Everything About Animal Hospitals and Veterinary Services

David H. Urmann asked:

An animal hospital is the best establishment to take your pet to if you notice that it is sick. This type of hospital is complete with the facilities for each pet-related concern. Furthermore, an animal hospital is managed by health specialists that are capable of giving excellent veterinary services.

If you notice that your pet is sick, or if you simply want to ensure that it is well and okay, going to an animal hospital is usually the best thing to do. This is an institution that is dedicated in diagnosing and curing ailments experienced by dogs, cats, birds, and other types of pets. Also, an animal hospital is where pet owners can bring their pets for a regular checkup.

An animal hospital is complete with facilities for every pet-related concern. This type of hospital has a section for internal medicine for pets whose ailments resulted from bacteria, viruses, or ingestion of certain substances. This establishment has a dermatology section for pets that have problems with their fur or skin. Furthermore, an animal hospital has a section for surgical procedures where pets that need immediate operation can receive treatment. Advanced diagnostic facilities such as MRI and CT Scan are present in certain animal hospitals. If the pet’s ailment requires a longer period for treatment, animal hospitals have wards and rooms where owners can leave their pets for a day or two.

Apart from these sections, there are grooming and health care divisions in most animal hospitals. Grooming services ensure that the outer appearances of pets are clean and well-maintained. Pet health care deals with proper diet and nutrition. Certain products related to these aspects of caring for pets are provided by animal hospitals. The cost of acquiring these services differ depending on the devices that are used and the procedures that are carried out.

In addition to the said facilities, another notable aspect of an animal hospital are the men and women behind this type of institution. All of the above-mentioned sections are managed by experts in the field of animal care. These people consist of veterinarians and experts in animal health such as cardiologists and neurologists. Aside from performing the operation and usage of the facilities stated above, rendering advice and suggestions to individuals regarding their pets is another service given by these animal care specialists. Moreover, to extend their veterinary services, these health specialists oftentimes provide home service to owners of pets that need medical attention.

In certain instances, veterinarians can also give their services to owners of cattle, poultry, and other kinds of livestock. In this case, the said animal care specialist personally visits the farm, inspects the living condition of the livestock, and diagnoses and treats any animal that may have an ailment or disease. The veterinarian may also give recommendations on how to improve the environment for the livestock and prescribe medicine should certain animals experience an illness. Through the help of veterinarians, people can ensure that their farms are producing high-quality livestock.

As a final note, in order to find an animal hospital in your city, you can go to the nearest pet shops in your area. Most likely, these shops have information about an animal hospital near you. You can also try to look for animal hospitals in the yellow pages or on the World Wide Web.

Tainted Pet Food And Compensation Rights For Your Sick Dog or Cat

Friday Nov 7, 2008

Arnold Hernandez asked:

Most pet owners love their pets more, in some instances as much or perhaps even more than a human being. They look upon their pets as life long
companions and as friends.

These friends loyal, they offer comfort, empathy, support, and unconditional love. In turn pet owners treat their pets with great affection and offer the best they can afford and sometimes the best, even if they can not afford it.

Divorces often lead to fierce bitter battles over the custody of an animal. Sometimes divorcees spent as much money fighting over the custody of a cat or dog, or other animal as they do fighting over custody of their children. Some divorces are even initiated as result of a pet and it is not unusual for unmarried couples to end their relationships over pets.

When our pets get sick it is not unusual for pet owners to spend hundreds or even thousand in medical treatment. Some of us even forego medical care for ourselves, but not for our pets. For whatever reasons, we love our pets so much we are willing to sacrifice other things to insure our pets are cared for.

Some of you may have heard of outrageous donations made by the general public for an injured animal or a lost dog. We have seen vast resources spent fetching a puppy out of a gutter or a rescuing a cat from a hole. We have seen men and women risk their lives rescuing cats from trees. More often than not a cry, for help for a young child needing medical care falls on deaf ears, but the same is not true for a puppy needing surgery. Donations for animals, more often than not, will beat donations for our fellow human beings. Regardless of any one’s individual feelings, pets are highly regarded and any type of abuse or suggestion of abuse can lead to dire consequences.

So, how does the legal system treat pets? How much are you entitled to get from a tortfeasor that injures or kills your cat or dog or other pet ? In recent weeks tens of thousands of pet owners throughout the country have been asking about this very question. They want to know about their rights as pet owners and about the individual rights of their pets.

Tainted pet food has made its way throughout the country and allegedly killing or making cats and dogs sick throughout the country. Some owners look upon their ill companions and wonder about how much they are suffering or have suffered and contemplate the idea of a lawsuit. Some have gone further and have discussed the matter with an attorney, and further still some have retained attorneys and have actually filed lawsuits.

What most pet owners are surprised to find out is that despite our relationship with our pets the laws do not reflect the same degree of protection for out pets. For the most part pets are not much different than any other item in your home.

There are no personal injury rights for animals and a lawsuit cannot be brought on behalf of the pet for personal injury. Even if an animal’s pain and suffering is real, it is not a cause of action, meaning they cannot sue and pet owner cannot sue on their behalf.

Dog Pet Bed - your Dog Needs a Pet Bed

Tuesday Oct 14, 2008

Jennifer Pezzillo asked:

Why is it important to give your favorite four-legged friend a place of his own? Your dog’s bed will benefit your dog’s sleep, comfort, and health for years to come. Many pet owners think that a dog bed is an optional item. However, having a pet bed is an essential item. Dogs spend a good part of every day sound asleep. The comfort and health of your dog depends on a quality sleep. There are many benefits for you and your dog.
Security
Dogs can feel anxious especially when their owner is away. Providing your pet with a special place to call his own will give him a sense of security. It also provides a private area for your dog. Your dog will love the fact that he has a place that is just for him, and in return he might be less likely to curl up on your furniture or bed.
Health
Just like humans, dogs appreciate comfort also. Older dogs as well as younger dogs can start to suffer from joint pain, arthritis and hip problems. Lack of quality sleep can also cause an unwillingness to go for walks and exercise. Make sure to buy the right size dog bed for your best friend. Big dogs need large dog beds! A dog bed’s soft, comfortable cushions feel just as great on a dog’s joints as a mattress or body pillow provides comfort and support for humans. A typical dog bed elevates the animal above the hard ground, supports essential joints and provides a degree of warmth. You may want to consider a orthopedic dog bed.
Warmth
Dogs will benefit from the extra layers of warmth and insulation off the bare floor especially during the night and cold winter months. A pet bed also provide essential support from a hard cold floor. Although dogs will sleep on a floor, it is often uncomfortable for them. Consider how you would feel sleeping on the cold floor with nothing but a blanket. This is usually the reason that they sneak onto the furniture the minute you leave the house and because it smells like you. Most dogs will sleep at the foot or side of their owner’s bed, on a favorite blanket or cushion placed in a warm part of the room away from drafts.
Position
Should your dog be allowed to sleep in your bed, with you? Probably not, where your dog sleeps is important to their emotional and physical health, as well as to your family’s. Some animal behaviorists say letting your dog sleep with you is a bad idea and sometimes upset the chain of command because the dog may get delusions of grandeur and dominance problems can arise. A dog bed lets your dog know where he is sleeping. You might consider and your dog may enjoy, several dog beds in other rooms where the family comes together.
Protection
A dog bed will provide protection for your furniture. When your dog is sleeping on your furniture, it affects the appearance and condition of your furniture, and as we mentioned earlier it affects your dog’s joints where he jumps up and down off high furniture. Not to mention bothersome pet hair on the furniture. For this reason, you’ll definitely want a cover that be removed from the mattress, and that is 100% machine washable. It should also be durable enough to deal with sharp claws, and stain resistant.
In conclusion, your dog will be spending an awful lot of time in his or her bed, so it’s important that you select the right one. So remember, when buying a pet bed for your dog, you need to take numerous things into consideration: your dog’s breed, dog’s age (puppy, adult, senior), dog’s size, dog’s health and where you plan on using the bed. Buying the right kind of bed and maintaining it properly can go a long way to your dog’s health and happiness, and maybe even your own.

Techniques for Dealing With Overweight Pets

Thursday Oct 9, 2008

Craig Smith asked:

Humans are not usually comfortable when they’re overweight. Being overweight makes people unhealthy and generally unhappy. Does the same apply for pets? Unfortunately obesity is a problem with pets. This extra weight often makes it difficult to run and play. Overweight pets, like humans are more vulnerable to sickness and disease. For example, when a dog is overweight stress is put on their legs and hips. Carrying around too many extra pounds takes a toll on pets. The sad thing about this is pets aren’t capable of putting themselves on a diet. It’s up to the owners to monitor and control their pet’s weight. If pets become overweight, owners must learn techniques for dealing with their overweight pets.

One key element of any dieting regime is exercise. So many pets spend most of their lives indoors. Dogs will be put out to do their business while many cats are litter trained. These dogs are probably only given the length of their leash and well cats aren’t even getting that. Activity is important for all pets. It’s essential to take overweight pets out for a walk. If living in an area where walking pets seems virtually impossible, there are parks designed nowadays especially for pets. Owners can take their pets, especially dogs to a park and let them run free, allowing them to burn off unnecessary calories. Exercise will not only help in your pet’s weight department but also helps with digestion, keeps their muscles tone, keeps joints healthy and flexible, helps with oxygen flow to tissue cells, helps the circulatory system and respiratory system and of course allows them to get rid of energy they’ve built up.

Pet owners love to treat their pets. Unfortunately treats can largely cause weight gain. Many pet treats are filled with calories. Although it’s nice to treat your pets, you aren’t helping them by allowing them to overindulge on treats. Treats shouldn’t make up any more than ten percent of your pet’s daily intake. It’s imperative, especially when dealing with overweight pets to choose calorie-wise treats. Remember your dog cannot do this and is depending on you to help them with their weight problem.

When looking for techniques for dealing with overweight pets, choosing the right pet food is essential. Pets need different types and amounts of food in the various stages of their lives. Young pets, puppies and kittens should not be eating food recommended for senior pets. The same rule applies for the amount of food and calories required for pets. It is the owner’s responsibility to insure pets are getting the food they need and the amount they need. When dealing with overweight pets it is perhaps more important to pay attention to the food and amounts they are eating. When there are overweight pets in the house it’s not a wise idea to keep the pet bowl filled with food. Many pets will eat as long as the bowl is full. Instead to monitor what overweight pets eat, owners should only give food as a meal. This is very important when there is more than one pet in the home in order to make certain the overweight pet is eating only what they need.

Besides the most obvious reasons for overweight pets, lack of exercise and over-eating, there are other factors that can contribute to pet obesity. Some pets have medical conditions which may play a role in their weight gain. For this reason it is important to have pets examined regularly. In the case of an overweight pet, before beginning any weight loss programs, the owner should consult with the veterinarian.

You’d like to have your pets around for a long time. Unfortunately overweight dogs run the risk of being affected by many conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, breathing problems, decreased liver function, digestive disorders, immune system problems and cancer. Of course the extra weight can contribute to dog arthritis. It also contributes to problems with a pet’s skin and coat. There are so many things that can go wrong for an overweight pet. They deserve so much more. Because it’s ultimately the owner’s responsibility to make sure their pets are properly cared for, problems with overweight pets are a result of the owner’s carelessness. That may sound harsh but it’s a reality.

If you have an overweight pet, it’s imperative to seek techniques to deal with the problem before it causes avoidable health concerns. If unsure where to start in dealing with overweight pets perhaps you should consult with a pet professional who can advise you regarding the best course of action. The Internet is a great source of information on pets and pet care. Browsing the many pet-related websites will surely provide ideas and techniques for dealing with overweight pets.

Why do some people treat their pets like humans?

Friday Oct 3, 2008

hapfut asked:

I’m just curious. Why do some people treat animals better than they treat human? Why do some pet owners act as if their pets ARE human? I just don’t get it. I just find it strange how some pets are doted on so much. When worst comes to worst you still have to rely on other humans to help you, not animals…
I’ve now read about 10 or so replies and thank you for that. It’s given me great insight. I’ve never owned a dog or a cat (but have smaller animals) not because I don’t like them but because I wasn’t allowed one as a kid and so never grew up around them and never got used to them like most people do.

So now when I go to other people’s (friends) houses and see dog/cat hair everywhere I feel slightly repulsed. And I hate when they lick my face.

I also have another ‘issue’ with rich people who get dogs or cats (or heck even kids!) and don’t even look after them themselves and just pay others to do it - what’s the point?

Pet Training is a Must

Friday Sep 26, 2008

David Fishman asked:

Pet owners are very loyal to their pets and there is nothing a pet owner will do to make sure their pet lives long and is healthy. Instead of buying a more than one puppy it is better to purchase a single puppy this way the puppy will have a better chance bonding with the owner and it will be easier to will bond to its owner better and will be easier to train than having many puppies. Avoid the temptation of buying two or more puppies. Depending on the breed, the best time to purchase a puppy is between 7-9 weeks of age. The puppy should get used to being around people and other dogs. Your puppy should not be allowed to roam the house freely until he is properly housetrained. A common misconception is that healthy dogs and cats must eat every day when in fact they do not. Smaller breeds are an exception, but even then pet owners must take care not to overfeed.

For a little bit of responsibility, time, and money on your part, you and your family will get a lifetime of love and unconditional adoration. The positive effect a dog can have on your family is amazing.

With all animals make sure the water and food bowls are cleaned regularly, the reason for this is to keep them free from germs and bacteria. Place your pets bowl so it is not in the way of walkways or in places where someone could knock into it. Keeping the area sanitized will help keep your pet healthy. Since medicines for pets are not easily distributed, it would help if you would also ask your veterinarian where the drug shops for pet care are.

Many dogs and even cats become very attached to children. Parasites that are internal and external are mainly responsible for illnesses and diseases seen in the large population of dogs. The common dog flea is the number one health problem facing these pets.

Exercise is every bit as vital to your pet’s health and well being as good food, clean water and shelter. Eating well and getting enough exercise are as important for dogs and cats as they are for people.

Vegetables and some fruit in your dog’s diet and a small quantity of such can provide many of these active compounds. For any weight loss program, human or animal, diet is the first essential part.

A pet tag is a very affordable way to help keep your pet around for many years to come. Pet name tags can also be chosen from a variety of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, brass and even plastic. You want to make sure that your pet tag is made durable enough to last many years, and will not fade or rust. You want to make sure that your pet tag is made durable enough to last many years, and will not fade or rust. 90 percent of pets carrying an identification tag will return to their homes. You should always make sure your pet/dog is wearing his/her id collar tag, the contact information on the tag should be up to date just in case your dog is missing. The ID tag should have your pet’s name, destination address, your name and telephone number.

Attorney Matters in Animal Attack Settlement Matters

Claysphere Rivera asked:

With this modern age, people from varied walks of life are attuned in raising and rearing for animals of their choice or likings. Some of them even favored and reared for the wild and exotic ones. To say, that in this modern genre, there could be no wild animals to speak off, as varied kinds of animals have been tamed and become domesticated.
There can be a lot of pleasure in rearing for animals. Some researches have held that animal rearing can ease one’s life and even to the extent of curing some psychological illnesses. To some, they found it enjoyable to rear for their animal pet and made them become more responsible and close with nature. All these were happy stories.
However, sad though, that not all end or even begin with the same happy stories. Some animal raisers end up with gloomy tales of disasters and financial drain brought about by the injuries that their respective pets have caused to them, their families or to other persons.
Hard as it seems, animal rearing does not always carry loads of comfort, but it has also its own share of disappointments and troubles.
Thus, it would be worthwhile for animal enthusiast to know their delicate duty and obligations in rearing for their pets including their concomitant legal responsibility whenever their pet happens to injure someone.
In general, pet owners are duty bound to take care for their animals in the sense that they should keep it properly attended and should not let them go astray. Several state and local laws have implemented this mandate of duty towards achieving responsible pet rearing.
Specifically, in California, when a dog bite causes injuries, the owner or person responsible can be liable for personal injuries caused by the dog and is legally obligated to pay the animal attack victim’s damages.
On different scope, proving the owner of the animal is not necessary for one to claim compensation or damages, though it can help in some respect. The owner of the animal is usually liable whenever somebody was bitten or injured especially if the animal was behaving as it usually does normally. However, different things happen if the person injured was making the animal act differently that trigger the attack, which in such instance possible problems with the claim can be expected.
In matters of animal attack settlement, it requires the representation of the adeptly qualified animal attack settlement attorney to help you compensated for the pain, suffering, medical treatment, loss earnings and potentially permanent injuries caused by the attack. The attorney will deal directly with the insurance companies and would ease you up from burden brought about by the attack.
Animal Attack settlement attorney are adeptly knowledgeable and skilled in representing this kind of litigation. They have vast exposure in the legal complexities that involved in these cases. Surely, they can give you the much desired compensation and damages you rightly deserved.
The damages brought by the animal attack can be extensive. For this reason, pet owners must be responsible in rearing for their pets and must take the ounce of guarding their community from sullen attack of their vicious animals.
To end with, in relevance of animal attack claims or lawsuits, attorney representation matters.
Our expert personal injury attorneys are knowledgeable in animal attack settlement and other related issues. To consult with our experienced animal attack settlement attorneys, you can visit our official website for a free case evaluation.
